MALARIA PREVENTION

Every year many hundreds of travellers from the UK catch malaria and in tens of cases it is fatal.

Symptoms can start rapidly.  The right anti-malaria tablet is essential to prevent infection.  Avoiding mosquito bites and seeking early medical advice for symptoms are also essential.  No anti-malaria tablet is 100% effective.

Malaria tablets are normally not supplied through the NHS.  Most travellers who require malaria tablets  will also need to be up to date with travel vaccinations. Depending on the part of the world you are visiting your pharmacist will consult up to date information to find the right medication for the area you plan to visit.
